Al-Sudani and NATO Mission Commander Discuss Security and Military Cooperation between Iraq and NATO Countries.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received the NATO Mission Commander in Iraq, Lieutenant General Lucas Schwoerer, to discuss security and military cooperation between Iraq and NATO countries in light of the conclusion of the international coalition's mission to combat ISIS in Iraq.

Al-Sudani was briefed on the outcomes of the high-level meeting between Iraq and NATO, held in Brussels last August, and directed the formation of a joint committee between the two sides, chaired by the Iraqi National Security Advisor, to discuss all frameworks of cooperation.

Al-Sudani expressed Iraq's desire to transition to bilateral cooperation with NATO countries that participated in the international coalition and to enhance training and joint advisory fields with the Iraqi armed forces, especially after the forces have achieved advanced levels of technical and field effectiveness.

He also addressed the developments in the security situation in the region, with the continued Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, its threat to regional peace, and its attempts to expand the conflict. He reiterated the importance of international and UN organizations and major countries taking their roles and responsibilities to stop the aggression and prevent the genocide of the steadfast Palestinian people.
