In response to U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to impose sanctions on Russia if an agreement to end the war in Ukraine is not reached, the Kremlin commented that it sees nothing particularly new in the threat.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Trump imposed sanctions on Russia many times during his first term as president.

He confirmed that Russia is ready for an "equal and respectful dialogue" with the United States.

In a post on "Truth Social" on Wednesday, Trump said, "Without an agreement, I have no choice but to impose high levels of taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on anything Russia sells to the United States and many other participating countries.

He added, "Stop this foolish war! It will only get worse.

Trump has repeatedly stated that he would work to end this war in one day.
