Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received a phone call from Pope Francis.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's media office, received by "Al-Awla," the Pope extended an invitation to Sudani "to participate in the World Leaders Summit for Children's Rights, organized by the Vatican in February on the occasion of World Children's Day.

Al-Sudani, according to the statement, highlighted "the close relations between Iraq and the Vatican and their shared positions on rejecting conflicts and wars and enhancing efforts to establish global security.

For his part, Pope Francis praised Sudani's efforts for de-escalation and his ongoing dialogues with regional countries to reduce tensions and end conflicts, contributing to regional stability and security.
