A high-level Syrian delegation arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Thursday with the aim of "opening a new chapter" in relations between Damascus and Riyadh.
The Syrian state news agency SANA quoted Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani saying, "I have just arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia along with Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra and General Intelligence Director Anas Khattab.
Al-Shibani added, "Through this first visit in the history of Free Syria, we aspire to open a new and bright chapter in Syrian Saudi relations.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Waleed bin Abdul Karim Elkhereiji , received the Syrian delegation upon their arrival at King Khalid International Airport.
Yesterday, Wednesday, Saudi authorities announced the launch of an air bridge to Syria carrying humanitarian aid, including medical, food, and shelter supplies "to alleviate the difficult conditions" for Syrians.
Earlier this week, Saudi Arabia warned of Syria's slide towards chaos and division, reaffirming its "support for the brotherly Syrian people and their choices."
