The Iraqi Ministry of Planning announced the successful completion of the third and final phase of the fieldwork for the general population and housing census in the country, which lasted about 20 days.
The ministry's statement, received by Shafaq News Agency, indicated that all activities and phases of the census were highly successful, as they were conducted entirely electronically. The census began with the numbering and listing phase, which started on September 1 and continued until October 31, followed by the population counting phase from November 20 to 22. The final phase involved collecting detailed data on the demographic characteristics of the population.
The census covered all Iraqi provinces, including the Kurdistan region, as well as remote areas, nomads, and various types of establishments.
The statement added that the census received support and recognition from international organizations and the United Nations mission in Iraq, which praised the level of professionalism and adherence to global standards in implementing the project.
The ministry confirmed that the government successfully conducted the census electronically for the first time, 37 years after the last comprehensive census in Iraq.
The preliminary results of the census will be announced in February, after the completion of classification, tabulation, and coding processes and the preparation of detailed reports on the comprehensive demographic and social characteristics of the population.
