Al-Sudani to Blinken: Iraq Awaits Actions Not Words from Those Managing the Transitional Phase in Syria.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani emphasized today, Friday, the "necessity of not allowing any aggression against Syria from any party.

A statement from the Prime Minister's office, received by "Al-Oula," mentioned that Al-Sudani "received U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken today, Friday. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, ways to enhance joint cooperation, as well as regional developments and the current events in Syria, and the regional and international efforts required to enhance security in Syria and stabilize the entire region.

The Prime Minister reiterated "Iraq's position in supporting Syria during this critical phase and the importance of friendly countries assisting Syrians in rebuilding their state and facing challenges that may affect civil peace.

Al-Sudani stressed "the necessity of representing all components of the Syrian people in managing the country to ensure its stability," affirming that "Iraq awaits actions, not words, from those managing the transitional phase in Syria.

He also emphasized "the necessity of not allowing any aggression against Syrian territories from any party," stressing that this represents a threat to security and stability in the region

For his part, the U.S. Secretary of State affirmed "the United States' agreement with the Iraqi side on the necessity of respecting the Syrian people's choices and working to form an inclusive government that reflects the will of the Syrian people and its diverse components.

Blinken pointed out "Iraq's pivotal role, stating that it represents a key partner in the region and the importance of consulting with it on the current developments in the region," affirming "the international coalition's commitment to Iraq's security, sovereignty, and stability.

The meeting also touched on "the events in Gaza and the importance of continuing efforts to end the war and ensuring all efforts to stabilize the ceasefire in Lebanon."
