Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani received a phone call today, Thursday, from British Foreign Secretary David Lammy. During the call, they discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, as well as developments in the region and the implications of events in Syria.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Iraq's steadfast position on the necessity of maintaining Syria's security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty and ensuring civil peace in line with the free will of the Syrian people, respecting their choices and social, ethnic, and cultural diversity. He also emphasized the need for major powers to play their role in ending the tragedy in Gaza.
For his part, the British Foreign Secretary expressed his government's anticipation of Prime Minister Al-Sudani's visit to Britain next month and the opportunities to strengthen constructive partnerships through it for mutual benefit. He also reaffirmed the international coalition's commitments to Iraq in various fields and highlighted Iraq's pivotal role in maintaining regional security and stability.
