Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met with King Abdullah II of Jordan today, Wednesday, in the Jordanian capital, Amman. They discussed the current developments in the region and the events in Syria.
The meeting emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral coordination to address regional and international challenges and continuing efforts to prevent the expansion of conflict in the Middle East and the risk of descending into chaos.
Al-Sudani stressed the importance of standing by the Syrian people in these difficult circumstances, respecting the free will of all Syrians, preserving Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and its ethnic, religious, and social diversity. He also emphasized supporting the Syrian people's choices towards building a stable and prosperous Syria that ensures the participation of all its components in managing the country's affairs and continuing consultations with all parties to exchange views and present effective initiatives that serve common interests and enhance stability in the region.
Both sides also stressed the need to intensify international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to increase humanitarian and medical aid to alleviate the suffering of the people in the Gaza Strip. They warned of the dangers of continued settler hostilities against Palestinians in the West Bank and emphasized efforts to ensure the stabilization of the ceasefire in Lebanon and its stability.
The meeting also discussed aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, continuing to work on building fruitful partnerships in various fields, in the interest of the two brotherly peoples.
