A statement issued by the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces in Syria, reported by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), said: "Our forces operating in Daraa and Sweida have executed a redeployment and positioning, establishing a strong and cohesive defensive and security perimeter in that direction.

The statement added that this move comes "after terrorist elements attacked dispersed army checkpoints and positions, aiming to distract our armed forces, which have begun to regain control in the provinces of Homs and Hama against terrorist organizations.

The statement affirmed that "the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces stresses that it is handling the events with a focus on the security of the nation and its citizens and will confront terrorism with firmness and strength.
