Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met in the Spanish capital, Madrid, with representatives of three major Spanish companies specializing in military and security industries: Rheinmetall Expal, Indra, and Airbus. This important step aims to strengthen cooperation between Iraq and European countries in the field of security and defense.
The Prime Minister emphasized Iraq's readiness to expand its partnership with major companies in developing its military and security system. He noted that these companies play an important role in Iraq's efforts to modernize its armed forces and provide advanced defense systems through cooperation with the Iraqi Military Manufacturing Authority.
Al-Sudani highlighted the importance of diversifying sources of armament as part of the Iraqi government's strategy to enhance the efficiency and readiness of the security forces, achieve internal stability, and strengthen the country's ability to face security challenges and external threats. He pointed out that Iraq seeks to develop the capability of its armed forces according to modern requirements, which necessitates opening new areas of cooperation with specialized global companies in this sector.
