The British newspaper, The Times, reported that Britain has signed an important agreement with Iraq to return illegal migrants and exchange intelligence information on criminal groups.
According to the newspaper, under this agreement, Iraq committed to enhancing its cooperation to repatriate migrants who entered the United Kingdom illegally.
The agreement means that illegal migrants will be returned to Iraq more quickly through close cooperation between the authorities of both countries in all matters related to speeding up the identification of those concerned.
The newspaper added that Britain will fund Iraq's efforts to enhance its capacity to deal with returning migrants and programs that help integrate them into society.
The Times noted that the United Kingdom has long struggled to return illegal migrants to Iraq, confirming that Iraqis are among the highest nationalities entering the country illegally. It explained that this year, Iraqi migrants constituted the seventh largest nationality crossing the English Channel in small boats to enter Britain, with a total of 1,624 migrants by last September.
The report emphasized that London would fund an advertising campaign throughout Iraq to counter the misinformation and myths spread by human traffickers online, encouraging people to pay thousands of pounds to migrate illegally to the United Kingdom.
