Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met with his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez today, Thursday, in the Spanish capital, Madrid, to discuss the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani emphasized, according to a statement from his office, that Spain's positions drive the Iraqi government towards establishing a comprehensive partnership, highlighting the significant role Spanish companies play in Iraq's development path.

He added that strengthening bilateral relations forms an important part of the Iraqi government's strategy in dealing with the international coalition countries after their missions in Iraq have ended, praising Spain's participation in this coalition.

The Iraqi Prime Minister also commended Spain's supportive positions on the Palestinian cause, including its recognition of the State of Palestine and its continuous calls for ending wars in Gaza and Lebanon.

For his part, Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez expressed his gratitude to Al-Sudani for accepting the invitation to visit Spain, affirming the importance of Iraq in the region and his country's desire to enhance cooperation and partnership with Iraq while praising the enthusiasm of Spanish companies to participate in various projects in Iraq.
