Iraqi Armed Forces Announce Maximum Alert to Face External Threats


The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, stated on Wednesday that Iraqi forces are "in a state of maximum alert" and ready to defend the country's sovereignty against any external threat. The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs had previously announced in a statement that it had sent official messages to the Security Council, the United Nations Secretary-General, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation "in response to Israeli threats to attack Iraq.

These threats were officially made by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, who sent a message to the President of the UN Security Council urging immediate action to counter the activities of Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq. Rasool said that "the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces issued direct orders during the National Security Council meeting to the Air Defense Command to take all necessary measures to protect Iraq's airspace and provide all requirements to enhance the defense of national sovereignty. He also directed security and intelligence agencies to continuously collect and analyze information, with detailed reports submitted to the Commander-in-Chief every 12 hours.

Rasool emphasized that the armed forces, in all their formations, are on high alert and ready to counter any aggression. He said, "Defending Iraq is a legitimate right guaranteed by the constitution and international laws, and the Iraqi government is working diligently to protect the country from danger.

On the other hand, Major General Rasool confirmed that the Iraqi government supports diplomatic efforts and that Iraqi diplomacy is working to counter Israeli threats through its participation in an emergency meeting of the Arab League at the level of delegates.

Major General Rasool concluded by affirming that Iraq is continuing to enhance its defensive capabilities and ensure its national security, alongside diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.
