No U.S. Forces in the South. Biden: Ceasefire Agreement Marks a New Beginning for Lebanon.

U.S. President Joe Biden announced that Lebanon and Israel have agreed on a ceasefire agreement, set to take effect at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Beirut time.

He confirmed that the agreement will be implemented "in full" and that there will be no deployment of U.S. forces in southern Lebanon. Biden added that if "Hezbollah" breaches the agreement, Israel has the right to defend itself. He stated that the agreement supports Lebanon's sovereignty and "marks a new beginning for this country, leading the Lebanese people to a future of peace.

Regarding Gaza, Biden said that Hamas has only one option: to release the hostages, including the American hostages.

These are the full terms of the agreement between Israel and Lebanon, according to Arab media:

2. In return, Israel will not carry out any offensive military action against targets in Lebanon, whether on land, air, or sea.

3. Israel and Lebanon recognize the importance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. These commitments do not negate Israel or Lebanon's inherent right to self-defense.

5. The Lebanese government will supervise the sale, supply, production, or related materials of weapons in Lebanon.

6. All unauthorized facilities involved in the production of weapons and related materials will be dismantled.

7. All military infrastructures and sites, and all unauthorized weapons not in compliance with these commitments, will be dismantled and confiscated.

8. A committee approved by both Israel and Lebanon will be established to supervise and assist in ensuring the implementation of these commitments.

9. Israel and Lebanon will report any potential violations of these commitments to the committee and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

10. Lebanon will deploy official security forces and army units along all borders, crossing points, and the designated southern area line as outlined in the deployment plan.

11. Israel will gradually withdraw from the south of the Blue Line over a period of up to 60 days.
