Iran rejects the new European and British sanctions and considers them unjustified.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baqaei, confirmed today, Tuesday, that the new sanctions imposed by the European Union and Britain on Iran are contrary to international law and are based on false claims regarding the transfer of missiles to Russia.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman described those sanctions as "unjustified.

The foreign ministers of the European Union agreed yesterday, Monday, to impose new sanctions on Iran for supplying Russia with ballistic missiles to be used in the Ukraine war.

It is scheduled that any assets held within the bloc will be frozen.

The new sanctions imposed by the European Union target two Iranian ports located on the Caspian Sea, namely Amirabad and Anzali, in addition to an Iranian shipping company and three Russian shipping companies.

The British government also imposed new sanctions against Iran on Monday for sending ballistic missiles and other weapons to Russia to support its war against Ukraine.

The British Foreign Office stated that it will freeze the assets of the Iranian national airline and the state-owned shipping company that helped transport weapons.

Sanctions will also be imposed against the Russian cargo ship Port Olia-3, which transported the missiles from Iran.

Foreign Minister David Lammy said in a statement before the announcement of the sanctions at the United Nations Security Council: "Iran's attempts to undermine global security are dangerous and unacceptable.

Lamy added: "Alongside our international partners, we were clear that any transfer of ballistic missiles from Iran to Russia will face a strong response.
