A Russian appellate court in the city of Yekaterinburg upheld on Saturday the 12-year prison sentence against Ksenia Karelin, who holds both American and Russian citizenship, after she was convicted of "treason" for donating $51 to a Ukrainian charity in early 2022.
The Court of Appeals published its decision via the "Telegram" channel, confirming the ruling issued against her in August, according to the "Radio Free Europe" news site.
And Karolina, 33 years old, who is also known by her husband's family name "Javana," moved to the United States in 2015, where she married an American citizen and obtained the country's citizenship in 2021.
