The Iranian Foreign Ministry described on Saturday the "American allegations" of Iran's involvement in the assassination attempt on elected President Donald Trump as a "disgusting Zionist conspiracy.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated in a statement published by official media that the repeated American allegations regarding Iran's involvement in the assassination attempts of political figures in the United States are part of a "disgusting Zionist conspiracy" aimed at complicating and exacerbating relations between Tehran and Washington.
The U.S. Department of Justice had revealed criminal charges related to a failed Iranian plot to assassinate elected President Donald Trump before the presidential elections.
According to the complaint filed in a federal court, an Iranian Revolutionary Guard official tasked one of his associates with devising a plan to kill Trump.
Investigations confirmed that the official believed Trump would lose the election, which would make his assassination easier later on.
The investigation also indicated the involvement of Shakri, who had immigrated to the United States in his childhood, in a network used by the Revolutionary Guard to carry out surveillance and assassination operations in the United States.
