The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faik Zidan, met today, Saturday (November 2, 2024), with the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, to discuss ways to cooperate between the judicial and legislative branches in Iraq.
A statement issued by the Supreme Judicial Council reported that Judge Zidan welcomed Al-Mashhadani and congratulated him on assuming the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives, commending the trust placed in him to lead the legislative authority.
The meeting addressed enhancing coordination between the two sides in a manner that serves the public interest and contributes to supporting the democratic and legal path in the country. Zidan and Al-Mashhadani discussed the necessary steps to activate cooperation between the two authorities in a way that contributes to achieving justice and developing legislative work according to the principles of law and state sovereignty.
This meeting comes within the framework of the two institutions' keenness to enhance the partnership to achieve goals that serve the aspirations of the Iraqi people and contribute to establishing legal security and supporting the stability of state institutions.
