A 6.1magnitude earthquake strikes eastern Turkey.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported that a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Turkey on Wednesday, which was felt by residents of neighboring provinces in Syria.

 
The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre explained that the earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 9 kilometers below the surface.
For its part, the official Anadolu Agency reported from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 occurred at 10:46 local time, noting that its epicenter was in the Kale district of Malatya province in central Turkey.

 
The Turkish authorities said that so far, there have been no casualties or property damage after the earthquake.
For its part, the Syrian news agency "SANA" reported that residents of the provinces of Hasakah, Deir ell-Zor, and Aleppo felt an earthquake.
A 5.2-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale struck Malatya last January.
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced in a statement broadcast by the Anadolu Agency at the time that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 13.93 km, with its epicenter in the district of "Batal Gazi.
No human casualties or property damage were reported at that time.
