A spokesperson for the French army stated that a French helicopter carrier will arrive in the eastern Mediterranean within the next five or six days.
The spokesperson added that the carrier will position itself in anticipation of a decision regarding the evacuation of foreign nationals from Lebanon.
The French spokesperson noted that France, which has 20,000 of its citizens in Lebanon, sent the helicopter carrier "Dixmude" from the port of Toulon to the region on Monday.
Western countries are considering possible options for safely evacuating their nationals from Lebanon in the event of a full-scale war in the country, with Cyprus and possibly Turkey viewed as safe options for tens of thousands of people.
