Iraq condemns the targeting of the Habbaniyah clinic and affirms its right to respond as diplomatic escalation against Washington intensifies with the summoning of the chargé d’affaires and the filing of an official complaint.

The Iraqi government condemned the attack on the Habbaniyah military clinic belonging to the Ministry of Defense, which resulted in casualties and injuries among army personnel. It described the incident as a "full-fledged crime” and a blatant violation of international law, stressing that despite Baghdad’s efforts to keep the country away from regional conflicts, it will not remain silent in the face of such assaults and affirms its right to respond in accordance with the UN Charter.

As part of the diplomatic escalation, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon the U.S. Embassy’s chargé d’affaires and deliver a strongly worded protest note, while preparing to submit an official complaint to the UN Security Council—supported by evidence—in defense of Iraq’s sovereignty and the rights of its people.
