Qalibaf denies holding talks with Washington: Fake news meant to manipulate oil and financial markets.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf denied on Monday evening that any negotiations had taken place with the United States, describing such reports as fake news designed to manipulate financial and oil markets.

Qalibaf wrote on his account on the X platform:
"No negotiations have been held with the United States, and fake news is being used to manipulate financial and oil markets and to escape the predicament in which the United States and Israel find themselves."

This statement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters that his envoys had held talks with a senior figure in the Iranian leadership, claiming that the parties had agreed on many points. Trump backed away from his threat to strike Iranian power stations on Monday, referring instead to productive negotiations.

An Israeli official told Axios that U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had been speaking with Qalibaf. Trump did not name the Iranian interlocutor, saying he did not want to cause his death.

Qalibaf wrote that the Iranian people demand full punishment for the aggressors and that all officials stand firmly behind their leader and their people until this goal is achieved.
