Day Two… Ukraine–Russia Talks End Without Any Progress.

The talks between Ukraine and Russia in Geneva ended without any tangible progress, and President Zelensky accused Russia of obstructing the negotiations. The Ukrainian negotiator described the day of discussions as intensive, while Russia’s Medinsky indicated that another round would take place soon. The talks are being mediated by the United States, and in this context, President Donald Trump emphasized that Ukraine must bear responsibility for ensuring the success of the negotiations.

Speaking to reporters in a WhatsApp call shortly after the talks concluded, Zelensky said, “We see that some progress has been made, but positions differ at the moment because the negotiations were difficult.”

Meanwhile, Rustem Umerov, who leads Kyiv’s negotiating team, said in a separate statement that the second day was marked by “intensive negotiations addressing important topics.”

He added that both sides “worked on drafting decisions that could be sent to the two presidents.”

In contrast, Russian state media quoted Moscow’s chief negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky, as saying that new talks are scheduled “in the near future.”

The peace talks are being held in Switzerland under U.S. mediation, at a time when President Donald Trump has twice in recent days stated that the steps needed to ensure the success of the negotiations fall on Ukraine and its president.
