U.S. President Donald Trump affirmed that relations with Venezuela’s interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, are extremely good, despite officially recognizing Maduro as the legitimate president. He announced that Venezuela’s economy is improving with the flow of oil, while Rodríguez is considering a visit to Washington to strengthen cooperation following the visit of the U.S. energy secretary, who praised her reformist role. Maduro was arrested last January, and Trump has threatened a similar fate unless detainees are released and drug trafficking is halted.
The White House leader said on Thursday that Venezuela has begun earning enormous revenues it has not seen in years.
He added that oil has started flowing again, considering this a major boost for the Venezuelan people.
