Including Iraq… A Japanese forum was launched to rebuild Middle Eastern countries.

A Japanese forum for reconstruction and economic development in Iraq, Syria, and Palestine was launched in Tokyo, under the sponsorship of Japan’s Ministry of Economy and Japanese trade organizations, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors and supporting the Middle East’s economy. Japanese officials and distinguished companies with experience in the region took part in the forum.

 Tokyo hosted the Economic Development Forum for Iraq, Palestine, and Syria, sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), according to “Arab News Japan,” based in the Japanese capital.

According to the report, the forum seeks to enhance cooperation between the public and private sectors for economic recovery and development in the Middle East.

The report explained that the “Forum for Reconstruction and Economic Development in Syria, Palestine, and Iraq” will focus on the current situation in these countries, as well as the commercial opportunities available to Japanese companies.

It noted that the forum will explore ways to establish effective cooperation between government aid and private-sector trade and investment, contributing to support for these countries. Among the participants were Japanese companies with a strong track record of working in the Middle East, according to “Arab News Japan.”

The report added that Japanese officials participating in the forum included

  • Watanabe Masashi, Director of the Middle East and Africa Division at the Trade Policy Bureau, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

  • Ishiguro Norihiko, President of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

  • Toyama Kei, Director-General of the Middle East and Europe Department at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

  • Togawa Hiroshi, Executive Director of the Japan Cooperation Center for the Middle East.
