Prime Minister of Sudan: Our Sovereignty Is a Red Line—We Will Not Surrender.

Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris declared that “our sovereignty and territorial integrity are a red line, and we will not surrender,” calling on the international community to support the choices and will of the Sudanese people.

In a speech before the United Nations General Assembly, he stated, “International silence on the crimes of the Rapid Support Forces in El Fasher is a green light for them,” demanding an immediate lifting of the siege on El Fasher.

He also called for the Rapid Support Forces to be designated as a terrorist group and for the flow of deadly weapons to them to be halted.

Idris added that “continued international silence on the crimes of the Rapid Support Forces prolongs the war” and affirmed the government’s determination to return to the capital, Khartoum.

He explained that the government is working to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected, noting, “We have developed a comprehensive plan to protect civilians.”

The prime minister emphasized that the government is committed to international humanitarian law, with peace as its top priority.

He also mentioned steps being taken to lay the groundwork for elections and a commitment to the national roadmap.

The war in Sudan has entered its third year, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions. The United Nations has described it as the world’s largest displacement and hunger crisis.

El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, remains the last major city in the vast region still under army control, while it has been under siege by the Rapid Support Forces for over a year.
