Iraq ranked first among Turkey’s neighboring countries in terms of imports of Turkish products with total exports reaching around 5 billion dollars in the first half of 2025.
The highest export value to Iraq during this period was in the grains, legumes, oilseeds, and related products category, amounting to $921.96 million.
This was followed by furniture and paper products, which Turkey also exported to Iraq, worth $551.83 million.
According to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from the Turkish Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Exporters Assembly, the report covers exports to neighboring countries, including Iraq, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Syria, and Greece.
Exports to border-neighboring countries increased by 4.8% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, totaling $13.3 billion.
Turkey’s overall exports for this period reached $131.44 billion, reflecting a 4.1% increase compared to the same timeframe in 2024.
In the first half of 2024, Turkey’s exports to the seven neighboring countries amounted to $12.68 billion.
Among these seven countries:
- Iraq took the top spot,
- Followed by Bulgaria with $2.2 billion,
- Then Greece with $1.8 billion,
- And Georgia with $1.7 billion.
The highest year-on-year growth in exports from January to June 2025 was recorded to:
- Syria with a 45% increase,
- Greece with a 13.5% increase,
- Azerbaijan with an 8.8% increase.
Turkey also exported jewelry to Syria during this period, totaling $3.86 million.
Note: These figures cover countries with land borders with Turkey. Armenia is excluded due to the absence of formal direct overland trade between the two countries.
