Al‑Sudani calls for establishing a diplomatic coalition of regional states and the European Union to stop the war.

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al‑Sudani called, during a conference, for the creation of a diplomatic coalition that includes countries of the region and the European Union, aimed at the immediate cessation of the war. He stressed the need to stop violations of state sovereignty, out of concern for regional security and the principle of good‑neighborliness.

In his speech at the conference, he stated that the ongoing war in the region requires a unified and strong stance to stop it and to prioritize dialogue and cooperation to prevent the escalation of a situation that poses a grave threat to international peace and security.

Al‑Sudani emphasized rejecting war and aggression, as well as attempts to drag Iraq into the conflict. He explained that resorting to violence without international legitimacy and outside the framework of UN Security Council resolutions is a ready-made recipe for sliding into a major regional conflict.

Key points from the Prime Minister’s speech:

  • We condemn the attacks that have taken place on Iraqi territory from all sides, and we reaffirm our rejection of the logic of war and aggression in all its forms.

  • Iraq’s position is firm in rejecting the use of its land or airspace to launch attacks or military operations against neighboring countries.

  • We denounce the attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran, its sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity.

  • We reject violations of the sovereignty of our Arab brotherly states, and we reaffirm our solidarity with their measures to protect their land and people.

  • We call for an end to violations of state sovereignty, sparing civilians the horrors of conflict, and upholding the principle of good‑neighborliness and adherence to the UN Charter.

  • We condemn the repeated Israeli occupation attacks on the territory of brotherly Lebanon and the violation of its sovereignty, as these constitute a blatant breach of international law and conventions.

  • We stress prioritizing dialogue and diplomatic means and unifying Arab and Islamic ranks to contain the repercussions and preserve Arab national security.

  • We reaffirm the sanctity of diplomatic missions and firmly condemn the targeting of civilians and civilian, oil, and nuclear facilities.

  • Continued attacks will complicate efforts to reach a ceasefire, prolong the conflict, and worsen its suffering.

  • The UN General Assembly must issue a resolution to stop the war, and the Security Council must carry out its duties and responsibilities to ensure international peace and security.
