The Security Media: The Iraqi Army possesses high capabilities to protect the country.

The Security Media Cell confirmed today, Sunday, that the Iraqi Army possesses high capabilities to protect the security and safety of the country. It also noted ongoing government efforts and significant funds allocated for the development of the air force through the purchase of advanced and modern systems.

The head of the cell, Major General Tahseen al-Khafaji, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "there is great interest from the political and military leadership, headed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, in increasing air defense capabilities."

He pointed out that "large financial amounts have been allocated by the state to develop the Iraqi air force and purchase advanced radars and sophisticated missile systems, in addition to improving current capabilities through continuous training and the acquisition of new weapons."

He added that "building air defense requires time and significant financial efforts, but it reflects the government’s commitment to protecting the security and safety of the country."

He emphasized that "there is considerable interest from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in allocating budgets for air defense development projects," noting that "cooperation has taken place with advanced companies in this regard, such as South Korean companies that provide advanced technologies that compete with global systems."

Al-Khafaji affirmed that "the Iraqi Army has high capabilities and capacities, and there is a variety of equipment, including Russian, Korean, American systems, and French radars, which enhances the ability to protect the airspace and vital targets, as well as the importance of continuous military training."
