### Leadership of the Martyr Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah
The martyr Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah led the resistance party for thirty years, transforming it into a regionally influential military force. Its existence was proven by the victory in the July 2006 war after a fierce and uneven confrontation that lasted 34 days against Israel.
#### His Early Life
Hassan Abdul Karim Nasrallah was born on August 31, 1960, and took over leadership of the party on February 16, 1992.
Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah grew up in the poor neighborhood of Karantina in Beirut, originally from the town of Bazouriyeh, where his father was forced to migrate in search of work to provide for his family.
He received his religious education at Shia centers and seminaries in Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran, before joining the "Amal Movement" during his high school years. He progressed through the ranks and became a member of the movement's political bureau in 1979. He split from "Amal" in 1982 with a number of officials due to disagreements over how to confront the Israeli invasion of Lebanon.
#### Secretary-General of Lebanese Hezbollah
Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah joined Hezbollah in 1982 and advanced through its ranks until he became its Secretary-General in 1992 at the age of 35, following the assassination of his predecessor, Abbas al-Musawi, by Israel.
Sayyid Nasrallah led a series of qualitative operations against Israel, which forced it to withdraw from southern Lebanon in 2000, achieving a celebrated Arab victory that manifested on the ground through the strength of the resistance's weapons and the steadfastness of its fighters.
