Saudi Arabia announced today, Friday, the establishment of an international coalition to create a Palestinian state and implement the two-state solution, with the first meeting of the coalition to be held in Riyadh.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan stated early today at a ministerial meeting regarding the Palestinian issue in New York, "On behalf of the Arab and Islamic countries and our European partners, we announce the launch of the 'International Coalition for Implementing the Two-State Solution,' and we invite you to join this initiative," without providing further details.
He emphasized that "the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is a legitimate right and a foundation for peace," and expressed appreciation for the countries that have recently recognized Palestine, urging all nations to show courage and make the same decision, joining the international consensus represented by the 149 countries recognizing Palestine.
Bin Farhan added, "We wonder what remains of the credibility and legitimacy of the global system when we stand powerless to stop the war machine?"
He continued, "Self-defense cannot justify the killing of tens of thousands of civilians and the practice of systematic destruction and forced displacement," noting that "the war on Gaza has caused a humanitarian catastrophe and serious violations being committed by Israeli forces in the West Bank, in addition to the threats against Al-Aqsa Mosque."
