Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati issued a call today, Wednesday, for the United Nations Security Council to convene to discuss the wave of bombings targeting communication devices by Israel, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of civilians yesterday and today.
In a press statement, Mikati said, "I have requested an urgent meeting of the Security Council to discuss the bombing of communication devices in Lebanon."
He added, "I reassure the Lebanese people that the influx of the injured to hospitals has now stopped."
Mikati pointed out that "the Israeli enemy is disregarding all international laws, and we will do everything in our power to prevent war in Lebanon and ensure peace."
It is noteworthy that in a second wave of bombings, several areas in Lebanon, from the southern suburbs of Beirut to the south and through the Bekaa Valley (eastern Lebanon), experienced suspicious and unidentified attacks today, as ambulance teams rushed to transport hundreds of injured individuals to hospitals.
