The judiciary directs the legal measures to be taken against the President of the Integrity Commission.

The Supreme Judicial Council decided today, Monday, to refer the case to the Third Karkh Investigation Court to take legal action against the President of the Integrity Commission, Judge Haider Hanoon.

A statement from the judiciary mentioned that "the Supreme Judicial Council held its tenth session under the chairmanship of the Chief Judge of the Federal Court of Cassation, Judge Faik Zidan," noting that "during the session, several judges and public prosecution members were promoted, and the formations in some appellate courts were approved according to the proposal submitted by the Court of Appeal Presidency."

It added that "the appointment of several judges and public prosecution members was approved based on public interest requirements," and noted that "the council approved the reformation of the joint judicial committee between the Supreme Judicial Council and the Kurdistan Regional Council of Judiciary to find solutions to issues in joint judicial work."

According to the statement, the council discussed "what was said by the Acting President of the Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoon, at the press conference held at the Integrity Commission on 1/7/2024 and the press conference held in Erbil on 4/9/2024. It became evident from the report of the Chief Judicial Oversight Judge, who investigated everything raised at the Erbil press conference, that these were merely incorrect claims intended to mislead public opinion and were a reaction to the legal actions being taken against him regarding the piece of land allocated to the Real Estate Registration Department in Maysan."

The statement continued: "In light of the abuse directed at the judiciary, the council decided to refer the case to the Third Karkh Investigation Court to take legal action against him. The council also decided to express its gratitude and appreciation on behalf of the Supreme Judicial Council to Judge Diaa Jafar of the First Karkh Investigation Court for his outstanding efforts in carrying out the assigned tasks."
