Member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Ali al-Bindawi, confirmed that supplying the Kurdistan Region with American weapons poses a threat to societal security in Iraq and exacerbates tensions.
Al-Bindawi explained in a statement that "there are concerns about the use of these weapons in party conflicts, which aggravates the sensitivity of the current situation."
He added that "rejection of arming the Peshmerga should be accompanied by a clear and decisive action from the Iraqi government, as it represents a threat to the country's security."
Al-Bindawi pointed out that "the United States facilitated the arming of the Peshmerga due to the significant political interests and gains shared between the two parties," emphasizing that "this weapons system will contribute to protecting American interests in the region."
