The Kuwaiti Administrative Court has set November 6 as the date for the hearing of a lawsuit filed by lawyer Adel Al-Yahiya. The lawsuit seeks to ban the entry of Iraqi Football Federation President Adnan Dirjal into Kuwait, deport him, and prevent his future entry into the country, in respect of Kuwaiti sovereignty and to honor the feelings of the families of prisoners and martyrs
Al-Yahiya stated in his lawsuit that "Dirjal described Kuwait in the media as an Iraqi province, which is a violation of international norms as Kuwait is a sovereign state and its people are free
The lawsuit against Iraqi Football Federation President Adnan Dirjal was filed due to a verbal slip he made during a media interview, in which he referred to Kuwait as a "province
Despite Dirjal's swift correction of his verbal error by saying, "Sorry, the sister state of Kuwait," the incident caused significant anger in Kuwait. This is because referring to Kuwait as a province is reminiscent of when Saddam Hussein described Kuwait as "the 19th Iraqi province" to justify the illegal invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990
