An anticipated visit by the Iranian president to Iraq to strengthen security and economic partnership

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will visit Iraq next Wednesday, marking his first foreign visit since taking office at the end of July

During the visit,  pezeshkian will hold bilateral meetings with senior Iraqi officials and several cooperation documents and security memoranda will be signed

On August 28, Iranian Ambassador to Iraq Mohammad Kazem Al Sadeq announced that pezeshkian's visit to Baghdad would take place between September 10 and 20. Al Sadeq confirmed that the Iranian President would be accompanied by a high-level delegation in response to an invitation from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani

Al Sadeq also mentioned that several memoranda of understanding, which were initially planned to be signed during the visit of the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, would now be signed. Some of these documents will require referral by the relevant ministers in the government and will be signed at a later time due to the formation of the new Iranian government
