U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Lebanon is not included in the ceasefire agreement, following Iranian statements threatening escalation and withdrawal from the agreement due to Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon.
Trump told the American network PBS that “Lebanon is not included in the ceasefire agreement, and Iran knows that.”
Regarding developments in the talks with Iran to reach an agreement between the two sides, Trump told the New York Post that “direct talks with Iran will be held soon,” noting that his vice president, J.D. Vance, may not attend the Pakistan talks in person.
Earlier, on Tuesday–Wednesday night, President Trump announced his approval to suspend bombing Iran and halting attacks for two weeks, based on discussions he held with Pakistan, revealing that he had received a 10-point Iranian proposal, which he described as a practical basis for negotiations.
