Reuters reported on Tuesday that an Iranian official threatened to close the Bab al‑Mandab Strait if “the situation gets out of control.”
Reuters quoted the Iranian official as saying that Tehran will not show flexibility as long as the United States demands what he described as surrender.
He added that if the situation spirals out of control, Iran’s allies would also close Bab al-Mandab.
Meanwhile, the Axios website quoted a U.S. official saying that the strikes on Kharg Island targeted military sites that had previously been attacked.
On the other hand, authorities in Iran’s Zanjan Province confirmed that an airstrike today targeted a railway bridge near the village of Aminabad in the province’s northwest.
Emergency services in East Azerbaijan Province reported that one person was killed in an attack that targeted a bridge in the city of Hashtrud in northwestern Iran.
