U.S. forces have begun withdrawing from the Qasrak base, the largest American base in Syria, heading toward the Kurdistan Region. Reports indicate that the evacuation process may take several weeks, while troops will remain stationed at the “Kharab al‑Jir” base.
The United States had previously evacuated several of its bases in different areas as part of a plan to withdraw around 1,000 troops from Syria while maintaining readiness to counter ISIS. Airstrikes against the group’s strongholds in Syria continue intermittently.
