Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday criticized the European Union, saying that the negotiations over his country’s nuclear program with the United States have revealed the EU’s paralysis and “lack of significance.” He added that Iran’s friendly states in the region are more effective than the EU and the European troika.
In a post on X, Araghchi said he was saddened to see the Munich Security Conference—usually known for its seriousness—turn into a “Munich circus” when discussing Iran. He added that the EU appears “confused” due to its inability to understand what is happening inside Iran, noting that the Union no longer has any geopolitical influence in the region.
Araghchi singled out Germany in particular, accusing it of handing over the leadership of its regional policy to Israel.
