Trump Signs Order Threatening Tariffs on Any Country That Trades With Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order imposing a 25% tariff on countries that engage in commercial dealings with Iran. The order aims to penalize any country that produces goods and exports them to the United States if it also purchases or imports goods or services from Iran.

The White House said on Friday that President Trump signed an executive order that may impose a 25% tariff on countries that trade with Iran.

This order comes at a time when tensions between Iran and the United States are escalating, despite the two countries holding talks earlier this week.

The text of the executive order states that “it is necessary and appropriate to impose additional ad‑valorem tariffs on imports of goods produced by foreign countries that directly or indirectly purchase, import, or otherwise obtain any goods or services from Iran.”

According to the executive order, “an additional ad‑valorem tariff—such as 25%—may be imposed on goods imported into the United States that are produced by any country that directly or indirectly purchases, imports, or otherwise obtains any goods or services from Iran.”
