The Jordanian government affirmed its refusal to allow its airspace to be used to strike Iran or to turn Jordan into a battlefield. Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi discussed bilateral issues and the nuclear file with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, with both stressing that diplomatic dialogue is the way to reduce tensions.
On Monday, the Jordanian government reiterated its rejection of any violation of its airspace or the transformation of Jordan into a battleground in any regional conflict or a launchpad for military action against Iran, according to its statement.
According to Jordanian media, Safadi held a phone call on Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which they discussed several bilateral issues and regional developments.
The two ministers reviewed the latest developments related to the Iranian nuclear file. Safadi stressed the need to rely on diplomacy and dialogue to resolve the issue and affirmed Jordan’s support for all efforts aimed at de‑escalation, reducing tensions, and achieving calm in the region.
Safadi also reaffirmed Jordan’s firm position in “rejecting violations of state sovereignty and the necessity of respecting international law.”
He emphasized that “Jordan will not be a battlefield in any regional conflict nor a launchpad for any military action against Iran, and it will not allow any party to violate its airspace or threaten its security and the safety of its citizens. Jordan will confront any attempt to breach its airspace with all its capabilities.”
Araghchi praised Jordan’s positions and its efforts to promote security and stability in the region. The two ministers agreed to maintain ongoing communication and consultation regarding regional developments and current diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and advancing dialogue.
