MP Suzan al-Saad revealed that Nouri al-Maliki will be tasked with forming the government next Tuesday, following the election of the President of the Republic.
Al-Maliki’s nomination for a third term comes amid political divisions, having raised reservations among Sunni leaders, while the State of Law Coalition affirmed there is “consensus” on his candidacy.
She added, “After the completion of the election process, the newly elected President of the Republic will assign the Coordination Framework’s candidate, Nouri al-Maliki, to form the next government.”
