U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated the importance of Greenland, saying he would discuss it in Davos. He also remarked that “no one can protect Greenland.” Regarding Macron, he commented, “No one cares about him,” and promised to impose tariffs on French wine if Macron refused the invitation to attend the Gaza Peace Council. Trump also invited Putin to participate.
Before heading to Davos, Switzerland, where the World Economic Forum is being held, Trump once again emphasized the importance of Greenland to the United States.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump said, “I will talk about Greenland with a number of leaders in Davos.”
He stressed that the Arctic island belonging to Denmark is “very important to America,” adding, “No one can protect Greenland.”
As for French President Emmanuel Macron’s rejection of his invitation to join the Gaza Peace Council, Trump said, “No one cares about him.”
He further added, “I will impose 200% tariffs on French wine and champagne, and then Macron will join the Peace Council.”
Trump confirmed that he had invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in this council, which many Western countries fear could expand its powers in ways that rival the United Nations or the UN Security Council.
