U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday a permanent suspension of immigration "from all Third World countries," stating that the decision will remain in effect until the American system recovers.
Trump wrote on social media:
"I will permanently halt immigration from all Third World countries to allow the American system to fully recover."
He also threatened to cancel "millions" of approved applications granted during the tenure of his predecessor, Joe Biden, and to "deport anyone who does not bring added value to the United States."
Trump further stated that he would end "all federal benefits and subsidies for non-citizens in our country."
These decisions come a day after an Afghan national reportedly opened fire on two National Guard soldiers in Washington, D.C.
