Mark Savaya, U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy to Iraq, announced that he will soon travel to Baghdad to meet with political leaders and follow up on the formation of the new Iraqi government.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Savaya wrote, “I look forward to visiting Iraq soon and meeting with political leaders. Iraq has made remarkable progress over the past three years, and we hope this progress continues in the coming months.”
He added, “We are closely monitoring the process of forming the new Iraqi government and let it be clear to everyone: the United States will not accept or allow any foreign interference in the formation of Iraq’s new government.”
Savaya’s remarks come amid growing international and regional attention to Iraq’s new government. The United States has reiterated its commitment to a long-term partnership with Iraq, focused on supporting security, economic development, and strengthening state institutions—while maintaining a firm stance against any external interference in the formation of the upcoming government.
