The “Abshir Ya Iraq” bloc, affiliated with the Islamic Supreme Council, announced on Sunday the beginning of discussions to form Iraq’s new government.
Ali Saber Al-Kinani, a senior member of the bloc and winner in the recent parliamentary elections, that “talks to form the upcoming government actually began several days ago among party leaders. This movement started after the Supreme Judicial Council urged the winning political parties to swiftly engage in negotiations to form the new legislative and executive authorities within the constitutional timeframes.”
Al-Kinani added that “the outlines of the new government will become clearer after the final ratification of the new parliament members and the election of the president.” He continued, “As new members of the Iraqi parliament, we will prioritize national interest above all else and ensure that dialogue and cooperation among political blocs pave the way for shaping the next government.”
Earlier today, the Federal Electoral Commission announced the completion of vote counting in remaining polling stations, suggesting that final results may be announced today or tomorrow, Monday.
