The U.S. Approves a 330 Million dollars Military Deal with Taiwan.

The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced that the United States has approved the sale of fighter jet spare parts to Taiwan for $330 million. This marks the first deal of its kind since President Donald Trump took office in January.

In a statement issued Friday morning, the Pentagon said, “The proposed sale will enhance the recipient’s ability to meet current and future threats by maintaining the operational readiness of F-16 and C-130 aircraft squadrons,” among other aircraft.

The proposed sale is expected to strengthen Taiwan’s defense capabilities by ensuring the operational readiness of its air force.

China considers democratically governed Taiwan a part of its territory and has not ruled out the use of force to take control of the island. The Taiwanese government strongly rejects Beijing’s sovereignty claims and insists that the people of Taiwan alone have the right to determine their future.

President Trump stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping told him he would not invade Taiwan while the Republican president is in office.

While Washington maintains official diplomatic relations with Beijing, it also holds unofficial ties with Taiwan and remains the island’s most important arms supplier.
