Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed on Monday that his country has never considered the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia an enemy at any time, noting that differences in viewpoints—even those that led to severed relations—do not equate to hostility between the two sides.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Araghchi explained that there have been many misunderstandings between Iran and Saudi Arabia, some dating back to the aftermath of the Islamic Revolution. He acknowledged that there may have been mistakes on Iran’s part that contributed to deepening those gaps.
In a separate context, Araghchi described the statements made by Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad regarding Iran’s nuclear weapons program as “realistic.”
Grossi stated that Iran has not developed a nuclear weapon and has never done so, while the Omani Foreign Minister—considered a trusted mediator between Iran and the United States—emphasized that Iran has never posed any nuclear threat.
