Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein laid the foundation stone on Friday for the new building of the Palestinian Embassy in Baghdad, with Palestinian Ambassador Ahmad al-Ruwaidi in attendance.
In a joint press conference following the ceremony, Hussein stated that the area where the foundation stone was laid is a vital zone that will host embassies and missions from several other countries.
He added, “Iraq has always supported the Palestinian cause. Our diplomatic efforts have focused on stopping the war, sending aid to Gaza, and promoting stability and peace, while ensuring the Palestinian people can determine their own future.”
For his part, Ambassador al-Ruwaidi pledged to open an Iraqi embassy in the Palestinian capital, Jerusalem⁽¹⁾.
